“The power under the constitution will always be in the people. It is entrusted for certain defined purposes, and for a certain limited period, to representatives of their own choosing; and whenever it is executed contrary to their interest, or not agreeable to their wishes, their servants can and undoubtedly will, be recalled.”

Want to look up current Federal legislation?

Then I recommend that you go to THOMAS (Library of Congress).  You can search for current legislation by bill number, title, or keyword.  It's now on the sidebar.  Permanently.

UPDATE:  Or you can go to the Federal Digital System, "American's Authentic Government Information."  The site includes information on:

    Budget of the U.S. Government
    Code of Federal Regulations
    Compilation of Presidential Documents
    Congressional Bills
    Congressional Documents
    Congressional Hearings
    Congressional Record
    Congressional Reports
Constitution of the United States of America: Analysis and Interpretation
    Economic Indicators
    Federal Register
    Public and Private Laws
    United States Code
    United States Courts Opinions
