Allen West, member of Congress, speaks on the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012:


The problem with Congressional legislation is that they are written by committees of lawyers who negotiate a compromise on every page.  I'm not sure that there's an immediate solution to that, but it's compelling that Mr. West, a genuine conservative who was on the committee, notes that there is no authorization for the military to detain American citizens, as has been rumored for a while.
