“The power under the constitution will always be in the people. It is entrusted for certain defined purposes, and for a certain limited period, to representatives of their own choosing; and whenever it is executed contrary to their interest, or not agreeable to their wishes, their servants can and undoubtedly will, be recalled.”

Breaking: Donuts healthier than soft drinks

Tea Partiers loath Big Government.   A sure sign of Big Government is the Nanny State, where elected idiots, ummmmm, officials, and government clowns, er, ah, employees with too much time on their hands find ways to tell people how they should live.

As if most mature adults don't know that already. (Note the heavy emphasis on "mature".)

So it behooves us to see what the cutting edge of Nanny Statism looks like, be it banning plastic bags in Los Angeles, or ....... no, I can't say it. Bloomberg really needs to get a life. Read on:

America unites in contempt for loathsome nanny-state mayor
The “No Labels” crowd that wanted him to run for president as an indie swore that he’d help bring Americans together. And so he has. Is there anyone on either side of the aisle, aside from celebrity buffoons like Alec Baldwin and the social engineers of tomorrow at Ezra Klein’s blog, who thinks this is a swell idea?
The proposed ban would affect virtually the entire menu of popular sugary drinks found in delis, fast-food franchises and even sports arenas, from energy drinks to pre-sweetened iced teas. The sale of any cup or bottle of sweetened drink larger than 16 fluid ounces — about the size of a medium coffee, and smaller than a common soda bottle — would be prohibited under the first-in-the-nation plan, which could take effect as soon as next March.
Read on, and learn the signs of Government Gone Wild, and the joys of socialism.

An especially ironic element of this silliness is Mayor Bloomberg, after banning sodas for their high calorie content, is endorsing....National Donut Day.   Hence the headline.

Tomorrow's Headlines Today.....so to speak

Tomorrow's headlines on the economy will surely include some variation of the word "unexpectedly".

They often do, when the economic news is bad, and Obama is tied to it.
Obama must go.  Pass the word!

Update:
They said 54,000, and they were wrong. The net job gain was.....69.000. "An unmitigated flop", indeed.

Unorganized Community Organizers

Not that this is an endorsing of anyone (save for "NOT OBAMA"), but this video is a useful perspective of the Romney versus Obama campaigns. Which can summarized as.....
  • Obama: Campaigning like it's 2008!
  • Romney: Better versed in reality. Plans better. And has better operational security.

Self-Proclaimed Foreign Policy Expert Demonstrates Expertness

I posted about Obama's brain, er, misfire, during a ceremony in Poland a few days ago. One would think that even Obama would apologize for using the phrase "Polish death camps".

Nope. He hasn't, and Obambi is taking a major beating for it in the process:
The Prime Minister [of Poland] referred to the speech of US President Barack Obama, who used the phrase “Polish death camp” during the Tuesday ceremony of awarding the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Jan Karski. - We expect that America, in connection with this very statement, will join our efforts and help us eradicate such false and unjust phrases once and for all - said the head of the government.

- We always react in the same way to ignorance, lack of knowledge and ill will which lead to the distortion of history. Such phrases are especially painful for Poland - Europe’s most affected country by World War II - underlined Donald Tusk.
And the complaints aren't just from the Poles -- even his supporters are upset about this, as reported by Hot Air.  A nice job of rebuilding America's image to the world, President Obama.

A hat tip to Hot Air for this update.

Law Of The Sea Treaty

Here's another reason to watch the Obama Administration with two unblinking eyes: he wants to give away American sovereignty by the Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST).

Obama’s Land of the LOST

What’s green and blue and grabby all over? President Obama’s new pressure campaign for Congress to ratify the Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST).

The fight over LOST goes back three decades, when it was first rejected by President Ronald Reagan. He warned that “no national interest of the United States could justify handing sovereign control of two-thirds of the Earth’s surface over to the Third World.” According to top Reagan officials William Clark and Ed Meese, their boss believed the “central, and abiding, defect” was “its effort to promote global government at the expense of sovereign nation states — and most especially the United States.”

The persistent transnationalists who drafted LOST favor creation of a massive United Nations bureaucracy that would draw ocean boundaries, impose environmental regulations and restrict business on the high seas. They’ve tinkered with the document obsessively since the late ’60s, enlisted Presidents Clinton and Bush, and recruited soon-to-depart GOP Sen. Dick Lugar to their crusade. Ignore the mushy save-the-planet rhetoric. Here’s the bottom line: Crucial national security decisions about our naval and drilling operations would be subject to the vote of 162 other signatories, including Cuba, China and Russia.
More from Michelle Malkin.

Obama proves his foreign policy credentials

When Obama was elected, back in '08, among other things, he was supposed to change how the world looked at America.

Good times, good times.

Poles and Polish-Americans expressed outrage today at President Obama’s reference earlier to “a Polish death camp” — as opposed to a Nazi death camp in German-occupied Poland.

“The White House will apologize for this outrageous error,” Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski tweeted.  Sikorski said that Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk “will make a statement in the morning. It’s a pity that this important ceremony was upstaged by ignorance and incompetence.”

The president had been trying to honor a famous Pole, awarding a Presidential Medal of Freedom to Jan Karski, a resistance fighter who sneaked behind enemy lines to bear witness to the atrocities being committed against Jews. President Obama referred to him being smuggled “into the Warsaw ghetto and a Polish death camp to see for himself.”
There's more at the link, including a lot of back pedaling and spinning by the White House.

At least no one is trying to blame TOTUS for this mistake.

"Attack Watch" Update

When we last spoke of Obama's so-called "Truth Team",  it was merely his much mocked "Attack Watch" renamed, and equally mocked.

Well, it's still around, and asking for American's everywhere to "Tell us about it, and help fight back against the attacks on President Obama and his record. ".

Oddly enough, there are still many Americans "disappointed in Obama", which I believe qualifies as an "attack" on Obama's (very poor) record.  If you are so included, selected one of the attacks from the last link, and report it here, with the following disclaimer:  they want your e-mail address/zip code, and immediately afterwards, you will be hit up for a donation to Obama's campaign.  So you'll end up on his mail list.

Obama repainting his 4 years in office

Obama:  I never officiated over any fiscal blow-out.

Wall Street Journal:  If you believe that, I have this bridge in Brooklyn that I want to sell you.

UPDATE:  Even the Associated Press isn't buying the Obama spin.  Yes, the AP is part of the Old Media.  That's exactly the point.

It has come to this, folks

The Department of Homeland Security has been forced to release a list of keywords and phrases it uses to monitor social networking sites and online media for signs of terrorist or other threats against the U.S.
The intriguing the list includes obvious choices such as 'attack', 'Al Qaeda', 'terrorism' and 'dirty bomb' alongside dozens of seemingly innocent words like 'pork', 'cloud', 'team' and 'Mexico'.
Released under a freedom of information request, the information sheds new light on how government analysts are instructed to patrol the internet searching for domestic and external threats.
The words are included in the department's 2011 'Analyst's Desktop Binder' used by workers at their National Operations Center which instructs workers to identify 'media reports that reflect adversely on DHS and response activities'.
I don't disagree with monitoring social networks for potential terrorism.  But with the definition of "terrorism" so vague these days, and the credibility of the government to keep their nose out of the business of honest people so low, there's reason to be concerned.

The entire article is here.  Below the fold, a list of the words.

How is Obama's public-equity record?

Fail.  EPIC fail.

Forget Bain — Obama’s public-equity record is the real scandal

Despite a growing backlash from his fellow Democrats, President Obama has doubled down on his attacks on Mitt Romney’s tenure at Bain Capital. But the strategy could backfire in ways Obama did not anticipate. After all, if Romney’s record in private equity is fair game, then so is Obama’s record in public equity — and that record is not pretty.

Since taking office, Obama has invested billions of taxpayer dollars in private businesses, including as part of his stimulus spending bill. Many of those investments have turned out to be unmitigated disasters — leaving in their wake bankruptcies, layoffs, criminal investigations and taxpayers on the hook for billions. Consider just a few examples of Obama’s public equity failures:

There more at the link, more than ample evidence that Obama is a failure of a President, even if one ignores his other areas of incompetence.

Lawfare, the new domestic terrorism

UPDATED (at bottom)  and bumped to top.

This is not strictly about the Tea Party, or the elections.  So I'm posting this somewhat reluctantly; if enough people feel it's inappropriate, I'll delete it.

But it IS about our basic freedoms, guaranteed by the Constitution.  Specifically, free speech, and how it's being trampled on by unscrupulous people using our system of laws (both legally and illegally) to harass and intimidate Americans.....simply because those Americans are speaking the truth.  A truth these unscrupulous people don't want spoken.

The strategy is called "lawfare", and it works.  It's a form of terrorism that uses the cracks and loop holes in the legal system.  Be warned, because you, or someone you know, might be next.

This link goes to the prominent blog "Patterico", and it describes the harassment he has gone through over the past year, simply because he wrote articles -- based on verifiable facts -- about a convicted bomber (terrorist is better, IMHO) -- named Brett Kimberlin.  Patterico is not alone, but this is one of the first complete reports I've read on this.

Read it, and be chilled.  We need to be worried about more than Big Government when it comes to protecting our freedoms.

UPDATE:  And here are recommended actions, from the Ace of Spades. Contact your Congressional delegation, and ask them to take some (or all) the actions.   Contacts to Congressional representatives are on the sidebar to the right.

Perpetual Obama campaign stumbles

There's nothing like the smell of a faceplant early in the morning.....

But don't get complacent.  Until Obama is out of the White House, and America is back on the path recovery, we can't afford to relax.

Yet another gim milestone in American History

And this one reflects directly and poorly upon President Obama

President Obama (and Michelle Obama) party hard while America slides into disrepair.  Time for him to go.

The Old Media is heading the way of the dinosaurs

Or as one friend of mine asked, "Fourth Estate of Fifth Column?"
Old Media Is Bleeding Out Right Before Our Eyes

Old media is literally committing suicide in front of our very eyes. In its desperate rush to see Barack Obama reelected, they are ignoring bigger and bigger stories. People have the Internet. They read The Drudge Report. They listen to talk radio. They read blogs. And in spite of all of these different access points, old media is ignoring blockbuster story after blockbuster story.

Consider the following panoply of stories -- from the last few days alone -- courtesy of the national treasure known as NewsBusters.
Read the rest.  And if you are surprised at some of the news, stop depending on the Old Media for your news.

"Obama spending binge never happened"

Or so says MarketWatch, a feature of the Wall Street Journal.

I won't quote from it, just as I won't be quoting from the counterargument from Hot Air, which offers 5 rules on "How To Make Obama Spending Look Small".

Instead, read both articles -- MarketWatch, and then Hot Air -- and see for yourself just how the liberals are attempting to spin Obama's dismal record on the economy.

And then pass it on.  Obama must go.

Stay classy, union thugs

Nikki Haley said Wednesday that she found the recent video of an AFL-CIO leader smashing a piñata of her “creepy,” and the South Carolina governor described the incident as typical behavior of “union thugs.”

“It’s creepy. I still hurt every time I see it,” Haley said to Greta Van Susteren of Fox News. “This is not typical of South Carolinians. This is typical of union thugs.”

Bill Clinton presents positive image for Democrats

Now, I know, Bill Clinton is not running for President, but his wife keeps her name up there, for whatever reason. And he supports Obama (although, after this, I suspect that Obama may not appreciate Bubba getting so close to him). Not to mention, Bubba had a large hand in shaping the Democratic Part into what it is today.

So I feel fully justified in posting this link. If this isn't classic material for comedians, nothing is.  The link is safe for viewing by people of all ages, save for some foul language; it goes the "TMZ" site, which covers celebrity gossip.  I'm only posting the link, though, as you need to read the entire (but short) article to get the point.

"She ain't no Karl Rove."

Want some insight as to how and why Obama is such a miserable failure?  Beyond his own problems, I mean.  Then, read this.  It's bad enough that Obama is an incompetent narcissistic socialist, but having a incompetent socialite with delusions of executive ability as his primary and most trusted adviser?  Oh, my!

It's real, all right

It’s not new, either.  Thanks to the compromise cobbled together in the lame-duck Congress after the 2010 midterms, everyone knew that the big issues on tax rates got punted to after the 2012 elections.  The same thing was true of spending cuts in last summer’s debt-ceiling fight.  Both parties planned to run on their approach to solving the problem, and then hashing it out after this election before time ran out.  A new CBO report might put pressure on Congress to address it before the election:
Tax hikes and spending cuts set to take effect in January would suck $607 billion out of the economy next year, plunging the nation at least briefly back into recession, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office said Tuesday.

Unless lawmakers act, the economy is likely to contract in the first half of 2013 at an annualized rate of 1.3 percent, the CBO said, before returning to 2.3 percent growth later in the year.
Read the whole thing, people. I like to slam Obama because of the narcissistic socialist Ivory Tower knucklehead that he is, but the fact is, both sides of the political aisle are at fault. This is a pretty good article on why Congress needs to stop punting the ball past the 2012 elections, and deal with the economy now, President Zero be damned.

So much for .....

.....“If you like your plan, you can keep your plan”:

The inevitable conclusion from last week’s statement from Ave Maria University has arrived, perhaps a little more quickly than most would have imagined.  Six days ago, the Catholic university followed in the footsteps of Franciscan University, which explicitly dumped its student coverage because of the HHS contraception mandate.  Ave Maria also objected to the HHS mandate, but said that large cost increases might end up driving their decision.  Today they announced that the 15% of their student body that relied on their relatively inexpensive health insurance would have to look elsewhere, and the university made clear the full extent of the cost increases...
More here.  Meanwhile (although I'm a bit tardy on this one):

Some of the most influential Catholic institutions in the country filed suit against the Obama administration Monday over the so-called contraception mandate, in one of the biggest coordinated legal challenges to the rule to date.

Claiming their "fundamental rights hang in the balance," a total of 43 plaintiffs filed a dozen separate federal lawsuits challenging the constitutionality of the requirement. Among the organizations filing were the University of Notre Dame, the Archdiocese of New York and The Catholic University of America.

The groups are objecting to the requirement from the federal health care overhaul that employers provide access to contraceptive care. The Obama administration several months ago softened its position on the mandate, but some religious organizations complained the administration did not go far enough to ensure the rule would not compel them to violate their religious beliefs.
Read the rest here.

So the fight goes on, as the Obama Administration seeks to curb our freedoms.

"It's the Economy, stupid!"

Bill Clinton said it, it's true still.  This is what the election is really about -- the economy.  It's Obama's weakest point (which is truly frightening, considering his "strengths"), because he's only hindered the economy, not helped it.
After a few days fighting the Bain wars, both Barack Obama and Mitt Romney pivot today — but in telling directions.  While Obama tries talking about senior citizens and veterans, Romney pulls the debate right back to the economy in his new ad, “Stories from the Obama Economy,” which could have been shortened to just “Obamanomics.”  It’s the subject that Obama keeps avoiding, while Romney keeps hammering on it:
The new ad from the Romney campaign is at the link -- go and enjoy it.  And pass it on.

Surprising, huh?

I mean, really.  Who would have thought he would do something like this?

I know, I know … who would have ever guessed that a blockbuster film about the raid that killed Osama bin Laden and was scheduled to open just before the election might have been used for political propaganda?  Well … everyone did, including Maureen Dowd last August when the film’s schedule and subject matter came to light.  At the time, the filmmakers insisted that they didn’t want to produce a hagiography of Barack Obama for his role in the film, but Judicial Watch discovered something very different when it got hold of e-mails between the production company and the administration, as reported by Josh Gerstein at Politico:
Just weeks after Pentagon and Central Intelligence Agency officials warned publicly of the dangers posed by leaks about the raid that killed Osama bin Laden, top officials at both agencies and at the White House granted Hollywood filmmakers unusual access to those involved in planning the raid and some of the methods they used to do it, newly released government records show.
Read the whole thing.

Seriously: President Obama is not worthy of command of the Armed Forces.  Seal Team Six did not risk life and limb to kill Osama bin Laden in order to re-elect Obama.

Time for him to go.

Walla Walla Resolution 2012-031

On 25 April 2012, the Walla Walla City Council passed Resolution 2012-031, "A Resolution Adopting Greenhouse Gas Reduction Policies And Guidelines" (link goes to a PDF of the approved document, downloaded from City archives).  It says, in part:
WHEREAS, the City of Walla Walla passed Municipal Ordinance A-2405 on May 13, 1970 which classified the City of Walla Walla as a nonchartered code city under Title 35A of the Revised Code Washington (RCW); and
WHEREAS, the State of Washington enacted RCW ch. 70.235 to continue its leadership on climate change policy and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions; and
WHEREAS, RCW 70.235.070 requires state agencies to consider when distributing funds whether entities requesting award of capital funds for infrastructure and economic development projects have adopted policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions; and
WHEREAS, the City of Walla Walla has recognized in environment and natural resourses [sic] (ENR) policy 14 and other policies in its comprehensive plan adopted by City Ordinance 2008-25 on November 5,2008 that the City should participate in broader efforts to minimize climate change; and
WHEREAS, the Walla Walla City Council has considered this matter during a regularly and duly called public meeting of said Council, has given said matter careful review and consideration, and finds that good government and the best interests of the City of Walla Walla will be served by passage of this resolution.
There are several key points about this resolution:

Either Obama lied in 1991, or he's lying now

Either way, Obama is a liar:
Obama's Bio Grows Even Sketchier

The Obama Record: The discovery of the president's false book bio claiming Kenyan birth fits an increasingly disturbing pattern. We've long described Obama as radical, but he's also deceitful.

The mix of these two traits in the Oval Office is toxic. But the Washington media are anything but alarmed, still believing as they do the mythical savior figure they created in 2008.
Read the whole thing -- it's worth the time.  And pass it on.

Old news is good news.....

.....if it's about a Republican or conservative, and you're a liberal.

And whether or not you like Romney, take heed of this:  the Lame Stream Media is going out of their way to paint a negative picture of the man.  Up to and including digging up history that was old when the Korean War was just starting.

Imagine, if you will, that the media is not biased (I know, I know, that's hard to imagine, just work with me here, OK?), and they did a similar piece on Obama, say around the Civil War.

Might they find that his ancestors had some association with the various guerrilla groups of the era?  Would they be Jayhawkers?  Or perhaps.....Quantrill's Raiders, or a similar group?

For a more recent -- and far more relevant -- example, how about Reverend Jeremiah "Go****n America!" Wright, whose church Obama attended for years?

That's the story here.  The Lame Stream Media is shoring up Obama's re-election campaign.  Take everything they say with a large grain of salt.

"Honestly, I Wanted To Laugh At Her"

Earlier in the week, I posted a link to an article where a teacher screamed at a student because he criticized Obama.  Today, the student was interviewed by a local paper and Fox News, but has been moved to a different school by his parents.  The teacher in question is on paid (yes, paid) suspension.  Here's a round up of articles and commentary on the matter:
First, the teacher told the student ".....let me tell you something, you will not disrespect the president of the United States in this classroom."  Later, she said, “Do you realize that people were arrested for saying things bad about Bush? Do you realize you are not supposed to slander the president?”  To which the student (correctly) counters that would violate his Constitutional rights, under the First Amendment.

I think the best assessment of this comes from Ace:
There are multiple ways in which this teacher is unfit for the classroom. She believes the classroom exists to further her partisan agenda. She uses her authority to bludgeon students into compliance with her beliefs and agenda.

But on a basic level, she's incompetent. She is a stupid woman. There is no getting around this: A social studies teacher really ought to know that in America, people are not "arrested" for "disrespecting" the president.

She doesn't know that. She is rather passionate in her stupid belief that the opposite is true.

I doubt very much that a teacher -- a social studies teacher, for God's sakes! It's not as if this is outside her usual classroom curriculum -- who does not know that your right to political expression is guaranteed by the First Amendment knows much else.

This is like a math teacher not knowing that if 3 x 5 = 15.

If the math teacher doesn't know that extraordinarily basic thing -- something that kids who haven't even been formally taught multiplication sort of know, by counting on fingers -- then what the hell does she know?
Later, he makes this prediction:
Oh, by the way: Know that the next step, coming to your school, is a ban on recording devices or cell phones with a recording feature.

They don't want people to know how awful and incompetent many of them are, and they'll make up any pretext for keeping this a secret.

So expect your local schools to begin banning recording devices, arguing it's "disruptive" to orderliness and "promotes a climate of suspicion and guardedness rather than openness and honesty."

Meaning: The Teachers Union teachers could not keep their jobs if the public got a look inside the classroom.

Fight this when it comes to your town-- because it is coming.
And I think he's right.  Sunlight is the best disinfect there is.  Especially for corruption.

How Easily Some Forget!

Thanks to Bob for the reminder.

Succinct And To The Point

America’s problem is NOT the economy, nor is it big business, big money, or those shameless Americans spending too much of their own personal earnings. America’s problem  is President Obama and his destructive Marxist-style policies!

Do read the rest, and pass it on.

Is it happening in our schools?

Parents:  It's happening in North Carolina schools.  Is it happening here?
NC Teacher Screams at Student:
It’s Criminal to Criticize Obama
A YouTube video uploaded on Monday afternoon apparently shows a schoolteacher from the Rowan-Salisbury school district in North Carolina informing a student that failing to be respectful of President Obama is a criminal offense. Breitbart News has uncovered that the student is a high school junior, and that the teacher is apparently one Tanya Dixon-Neely.

The video shows a classroom discussion about the Washington Post hit piece about Mitt Romney bullying a kid some five decades ago. One student says, “Didn’t Obama bully someone though?” The teacher says: “Not to my knowledge.” The student then cites the fact that Obama, in Dreams from My Father, admits to shoving a little girl. “Stop, no, because there is no comparison,” screams the teacher. Romney is “running for president. Obama is the president.”
Here's the video:

Bias In The Media, Part #19,473

Breitbart News’ discovery of the 1991 biography distributed by Barack Obama’s then-literary agency, which stated (incorrectly) that Obama had been “born in Kenya,” confirmed what we have been saying for months as we pursued “The Vetting” project. Much of what the country ought to know about Obama, but does not, is hidden--often in plain sight--yet the mainstream media covers it up or spins it away to protect him.
The point of this story is not directly about Obama -- it's about the media's blatant bias towards him, and by extension, to his anti-American agenda.

Read, learn, and pass it on.

America, the Nanny State

When they told me they were working on education reform at the same time as trying to fight obesity in the nation’s youth, I didn’t think they were talking about this.
Davis High School has been fined $15,000 after they were caught selling soda pop during lunch hour, which is a violation of federal law.
The federally mandated law prohibits the sale of carbonated beverages after lunch is served. The program is an effort to help fight childhood obesity and to have young students make better food choices.
The mandate allows for carbonated beverages to be sold before lunch, but restricts students from buying lunch, then purchasing carbonated drinks afterward.
“Before lunch you can come and buy a carbonated beverage. You can take it into the cafeteria and eat your lunch, but you can’t first go buy school lunch then come out in the hallway and buy a drink,” said Davis High Principal Dee Burton.
More big government that we don't need.

An application in progress

And we aren't done yet.

The Canadian Loonie in Iceland

In 2008, Iceland suffered a collapse of their financial system.  This article from the Financial Post does not offer any sage advice for Americans and our current problems, but the well described consequences are to be avoided.

President Obama scores zero. Again.

President Zero maintains a zero score on his budgets, as in, no one in the Senate voted for his latest monstrosity:
99-0: Senate votes down Obama’s budget unanimously — again

There’s no better testament to how politically toxic that $6.4 trillion figure is than the fact that Senate Democrats would rather hand the GOP yet another day of “Obama shutout!” headlines than sign on to this travesty out of party loyalty. Said Mitch McConnell of Reid’s refusal to offer his own budget, “They’re so unserious they won’t even vote for a budget that was written by a president of their own party. It doesn’t get more irresponsible than that.” Indeed — but follow that last link and you’ll find that it’s Jay Carney, of all people, who’s complaining about “gimmicks.”
Do read the whole thing, including the update which demonstrates just how unserious the Democrats really are when it comes to the Federal budget.

Our stimulus dollars paid for *this*?

The NBC Investigative Unit has raised questions about two grants totaling nearly $1.5 million dollars distributed to the University of California San Francisco. The money was part of the federal stimulus program and went to studies into the erectile dysfunction of overweight middle aged men and the accurate reporting of someone's sexual history.

This is part of our ongoing series of investigations by the NBC Bay Area Investigative Unit into who got federal stimulus dollars, and why some projects did not break ground more than two years after receiving the grant.

The Investigative Unit looked closely at the federal government's decision to spend nearly $1.5 million dollars of taxpayer money, money that came here to California. Grant number 1R01HD056950-01A2 was among the thousands of grants funded, receiving $1.2 million dollars. This grant studied how to improve the accuracy of how people responded to questions about their sexual history.
More here.  No wonder America is going broke.

Yes, the Left still hates the Tea Party

Remember my post a few days ago about the OccupyWhatEver versus the Tea Party? Well, here's another example of the same level of idiocy:
Just in time for May sweeps, the producers of the animated Fox hit series Family Guy decided to devote an entire episode to trashing the Tea Party Sunday.

Liberal creator Seth MacFarlane's goal was surely to offend every right-thinking person in the nation as he depicted the conservative movement as a bunch of racist anarchists destined to destroy America (video follows with transcribed lowlights andcommentary).
A really stupid segment for any show.  This is the "civil discourse" so earnestly desired by the liberals.

The National Debt in 5 minutes

A good review of the budget dilemma.  Watch it, pass it on.

Tacky and tone deaf

Not even Mother's Day could be shielded from election-year politics.

The White House on Sunday released specially tailored e-cards touting the benefits for moms of the federal health care overhaul, urging people to send the card around to "show some appreciation for the mom in your life."

The e-card, posted on the White House website for any and all to download and share, is titled: "Happy Mother's Day From The Affordable Care Act."
Not even Mother's Day is free of politics.

This is in response to questions at the last meeting.  These are a few articles that offer a quick summary of Agenda 21.  If you have more, e-mail them to me for inclusion.

California Still Leading The Nation......

....in a downward spiral towards bankruptcy:

SACRAMENTO, Calif. –  California's budget deficit has swelled to a projected $16 billion -- much larger than had been predicted just months ago -- and will force severe cuts to schools and public safety if voters fail to approve tax increases in November, Gov. Jerry Brown said Saturday.

The Democratic governor said the shortfall grew from $9.2 billion in January in part because tax collections have not come in as high as expected and the economy isn't growing as fast as hoped for. The deficit has also risen because lawsuits and federal requirements have blocked billions of dollars in state cuts.

"This means we will have to go much farther and make cuts far greater than I asked for at the beginning of the year," Brown said in an online video. "But we can't fill this hole with cuts alone without doing severe damage to our schools. That's why I'm bypassing the gridlock and asking you, the people of California, to approve a plan that avoids cuts to schools and public safety."
California's budget comes from unchecked spending, and a shortfall in tax collections.  The state legislature (controlled by Democrats) consistently refuses to cut spending.  Other cuts are prevented by law suits and legal injunctions.

Further, the state legislature and the governor consistently assumes economic growth in an atmosphere of over-regulation and heavy taxation.  For example, Governor Brown projects his tax initiative would raise as much as $9 billion in fiscal year 2012-13, but other estimates say $6.8 billion.

Hence California's reckless plunge into financial crisis through fiscal irresponsibility.  Which is an excellent model for the direction that we do not want to go in.

And the list goes on, so go and read it.  And be sure to pass this on to your friends and family.

Update:  I forgot to credit Chris Muir at Day By Day Cartoon for the link to this list. Visit him daily -- not only is he funny and a good artist, he's a genuine conservative.

Nixon has nothing on Obama

UPDATED AND BUMPED TO TOP.  See update below.

So noted "DrewM" at the "Ace of Spades" blog, where he linked this article.
First a Romney supporter was named on an Obama campaign website. That was followed by the slimy trolling into a citizen's private life.
Here's what happens when the president of the United States publicly targets a private citizen for the crime of supporting his opponent.

Frank VanderSloot is the CEO of Melaleuca Inc. The 63-year-old has run that wellness-products company for 26 years out of tiny Idaho Falls, Idaho. Last August, Mr. VanderSloot gave $1 million to Restore Our Future, the Super PAC that supports Mitt Romney.

Three weeks ago, an Obama campaign website, "Keeping GOP Honest," took the extraordinary step of publicly naming and assailing eight private citizens backing Mr. Romney. Titled "Behind the curtain: a brief history of Romney's donors," the post accused the eight of being "wealthy individuals with less-than-reputable records." Mr. VanderSloot was one of the eight, smeared particularly as being "litigious, combative and a bitter foe of the gay rights movement."

About a week after that post, a man named Michael Wolf contacted the Bonneville County Courthouse in Idaho Falls in search of court records regarding Mr. VanderSloot. Specifically, Mr. Wolf wanted all the documents dealing with Mr. VanderSloot's divorces, as well as a case involving a dispute with a former Melaleuca employee.
Read The Whole Thing.  Seriously.  Also from DrewM:

"Liberals aren't interested in debate, they are interested in punishing enemies."

Update I:  the attacks are working.   And here's the link to Mr. VanderSloot's firm, Melaleuca.

Update II:  I should note, this is not an endorsement of Melaleuca.  The link is provided for your information, so that you can see the sort of businesses that Obama and his cronies attack for political purposes.

Update III:  Below the fold, a great Photoshop, courtesy of Paco Enterprises.

Welcome to Obama’s second term of office

The opening line of this post:

"If you’re wondering what a second term for Barack Obama might mean, look no further than the EPA."

Read the whole thing, and pass it on.

The Media is Shameless

From "Whatever Happened To Common Sense", comes this video that asks good questions.  It's worth a listen, in spite of the occasional expletive:

The rumors of our death are greatly exaggerated

From Breitbart News

The Tea Party has spent the past several months methodically building, training, and developing its army without much flashy media attention. The lack of media coverage has led a few people to ask if the Tea Party is still alive. After his defeat at the hands of the Tea Party, soon-to-be former Senator Dick Lugar can tell you, the Tea Party is not only alive but they are also organized to fight, and win.

Thanks to Jeremy!

Graph of the day

I recall very little coverage by the Walla Walla Union Bulletin on our group, but plenty over the "Occupy Walla Walla". I don't wonder why that's so, but this graph and supporting data demonstrates just how morally bankrupt the WWUB and the rest of the media are for doing so.

Oh my my my......

"Los Angeles is shutting school libraries, laying off teachers and shutting down fire houses. And VIPs are paying $40,000 for a Wolfgang Puck hors d'oeuvre and a silly photo with a president who only now has come to think it might be OK for gay people to have the same rights as straight people.

Big government -- we need it no more

I had wondered what idiots had done away with vents on gas cans, and I finally found out.  I've been considered installing the tire stems on mine....now I will, just because.

Hope & Change, version 2012

Or do they mean Mr. Chang, where ever he is?

These are avowed supporters of President Obama, and his bid for re-election.  Go here for a selection of similar photos.

And please note, as per the blog author......these are *NOT* random pictures.  They were selected by Obama staffers.  Think about it while you browse the selection.

"Sometimes I Forget The Magnitude of the Recession"

Obama will certainly feel it when he hits the street in January 2013!

Tax loopholes offer bigger refunds .....

And please note -- this story comes from a small TV station in Indiana.  The major broadcast networks haven't touched this story.  Imagine that.

There may be a reason why IKEA has good deals

Here's yet another reason not to like socialism OR communism....or just totalitarianism:
The controversial contract to use Cuban prison labor to build IKEA furniture was part of a broader deal between firms run by the Cuban and East German security services that also involved Cuban antiques, cigars and guns, according to a researcher in Berlin.

Documents on the deal, found in the archives of East Germany’s notorious STASI security agency, also refer to Cuban prison labor and indicate that former Cuban leader Fidel Castro personally approved the overall deal, said researcher Jorge Luis García.

Garcia told El Nuevo Herald on Wednesday he published an article about the deal in 2006 that mentioned the Cuban manufacture of furniture “for export to Sweden,” and posted a note about it in his blog, STASI-MININT Connection, early last year.

Yes, I'm a crank.

Tax payer funded thuggery continues with the Drug Enforcement Agency:

In a story that would be touching in the ordinary context, an 88 year old man and his 85 year old girlfriend built a portable water purification business from a dream to a reality. Nothing wrong there; such things are supposed to be part of the American Dream.

But now, their business is being ruined by one of the most unaccountable and tyrannical bureaucracies in the history of government, the DEA....
Read the whole thing.  Especially the money quote:
We are no longer governed, but we are ruled. This government is monstrous. It no longer resembles what the founders envisioned, and very few people care. Those who do are ridiculed as cranks.
Yes, I'm a crank.  Are you?

The Obama Administration in 1000 words.....

Gratefully stolen from The Ace Of Spades....

Farmer Markets now accepting food stamps

From Hot Air:

"We are more than $15 trillion in debt, but the Department of Agriculture is dishing out taxpayer money to subsidize costly transactions so that more people will feel invited to the health-food party. The USDA  is apparently unfamiliar with the adage, “You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink.” Not only does the federal government have no business spending other people’s money to try and influence people’s food and health choices, but doing so in no way guarantees that people actually will eat more healthfully — I wonder if they’ve given any thought at all to the opportunity costs or neighborhood effects that could come from their efforts to engineer the perfect crunchy society."
No wonder we are so deeply in debt.

Obama uses cartoon characters to promote his policies

Love him or hate him, for better or for worse, Romney is the most likely Republican candidate for President.

But at least he has a good team behind his campaign, as demonstrated in this video clip, where he mercilessly mocks Obama's "Julia" meme.

County Precinct Committe Officer positions open

By way of Daryl, there are vacant positions in the Walla Walla County Republican party, those of the Precinct Committee Officer.  This is an excellent means of helping to inject a conservative voice into the Republican party at the grassroots level. The position is elected, and an application must be filed at the County election office at 5th and Popular in Walla Walla. The application must be filed between 14 May and 18 May 2012.

If you live in one of the precincts below, please consider filing for the position.  Or, if you know a conservative Republican that may be interested, and lives in any of these precincts, forward this to them.

UPDATE:  Daryl sent a link: http://wa-demchairs.org/districts/precinctmap.php?ld=16; select the precinct from the drop down box, and you can see the coverage.

The precinct maps provided by the Washington Secretary of State appear to be down at this time; I'll try to link them later.

If you have Google Earth, you can download a KML file that shows the precinct boundaries; click and select "16th LD" .  Once loaded, you can zoom into your neighborhood to see which precinct you are in.

And, yes, I know, that link goes to the Washington State Democratic Chairs Organization.  I'd prefer an official map, rather than the Google Earth depiction.  Please e-mail me at w2teaparty -at- gmail.com (use "@" in lieu of "- at -") should you have a better one.

4 Pillars Of A New Age

From tonight's meeting, from Phil, a presentation worth your time: "4 Pillars Of A New Age".

It comes in three parts; YouTube will transfer from one segment to the next automatically.

"Obama's Second Term Transformation Plans"

The 2012 election has often been described as the most pivotal since 1860.  This statement is not hyperbole.  If Barack Obama is re-elected the United States will never be the same, nor will it be able to re-capture its once lofty status as the most dominant nation in the history of mankind.
The overwhelming majority of Americans do not understand that Obama's first term was dedicated to putting in place executive power to enable him and the administration to fulfill the campaign promise of "transforming America" in his second term regardless of which political party controls Congress.   That is why his re-election team is virtually ignoring the plight of incumbent or prospective Democratic Party office holders.
The most significant accomplishment of Obama's first term is to make Congress irrelevant.  Under the myopic and blindly loyal leadership of Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, the Democrats have succeeded in creating an imperial and, in a second term, a potential dictatorial presidency.
Read the whole thing, and pass it on to others.

Election Primary Results

From Hot Air come these results:

1.  Lugar, a confirmed RINO, lost to Tea Party candidate Mourdock.  The money quote from Philip Klein:
"Any elected Republican that doesn’t pursue a small government agenda once in office risks suffering the same fate as Lugar. Had Lugar hung on, then a lot of people would have dismissed the Tea Party as a passing fad from 2010. But now it’s clear that the movement has been underestimated once again. Tea Partiers have a lot more staying power than skeptics expected."

2.  Governor Walker of Wisconsin, facing a union sponsored recall election, received massive GOP voter support in the recall primary.   Money quote:
"Walker’s banked considerably more votes than Barrett and Falk [Democrat Governor primary candidates] combined. Message sent."

3.  In West Virgina's primary, Obama is running 60/40 against Keith Judd.....a Federal inmate, prisoner #11593-051.  Money quote:

"I think we can go ahead and put West Virginia in the Romney column for November"
4.  Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) refuses to say whether he voted for Obama in the Democratic primary in West Virginia.  No money quote, just this thought:  Obama is toxic, isn't he?

Good news on the Global War On Terrorism

SANAA, Yemen –  An airstrike Sunday killed a top Al Qaeda leader on the FBI's most wanted list for his role in the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole warship, Yemeni officials said. The airstrike resembled earlier U.S. drone attacks, but the U.S. did not immediately confirm it.
It's important that we never forget those we have outstanding business with. It's not over until we mark them "Paid In Full" with a shot to the head.

Take a good look

This is the face of the next generation of lefties, those who want to run this country. Get used to it, they aren't going away any time soon.
Better yet, do something about it.   Obama must go.

More media complacency

Don't believe the nonsense about the 8.1% unemployment being "good news".

CATCHING PIGS

Shamelessly borrowed from a post on our Facebook Page:
There was a chemistry professor in a large college that had some
exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab,
the professor noticed one young man, an exchange student, who kept
rubbing his back and stretching as if his back hurt. The professor asked
the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet
lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his
native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and
install a new communist regime.
In the midst of his story, he looked at the professor and asked a
strange question. He asked: "Do you know how to catch wild pigs?"
The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line.
The young man said that it was no joke. "You catch wild pigs by finding
a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs
find it and begin to come every day to eat the free corn.

"Occupy [Whatever]" returns with the nice weather

It's spring, and #Occupy[InsertNameHere] is coming back onto the streets.  So here are some relevant links to our friends supported by the Democratic Party:
1.  If you haven't been following this movement, you should be. And here's a great introduction to their mindset and way of thinking, thanks to MSNBC, by way of NewsBusters (cauution: swallow any drinks, and restrain yourself from punching out the screen):

2.   Five anarchists, some with ties to #OccupyCleveland, were arrested for a plot to blow up bridge.

3.  Here are some links to news reports on the festive May Day events in Seattle sponsored by your local neighborhood anarchists and the "Occupy" movement.

And we are still months away from the Presidential elections.  This will be a long campaign.
