Water Rights and Wells for Rural Homes

16th District lawmakers invite residents to town hall meetings

Rep. Terry Nealey, R-Dayton, and Rep. Maureen Walsh, R-Walla Walla, invite constituents to attend three town halls the weekend of February 17 and 18. The representatives will be available to answer questions and discuss key issues of the 2012 legislative session such as the budget, agriculture, education, and public safety.

Man on probation, fined for role in tea party scam

From the Detroit Free Press:

 A former Oakland County Democratic Party operative was sentenced to a year of probation and ordered to pay more than $2,500 in fines and court costs for his role in creating fake tea party candidates during the 2010 election in an effort to siphon off support for Republican candidates.

February meeting date

The next meeting is on 13 February, at the Regional Airport Conference Room.  The business meeting starts at 6:30 PM, and the regular meeting starts at 7:00 PM.

All meetings are on the second Tuesday of the month.  Come in, and bring your friends!

September Meeting highlights

Here is a quick summary of what was discussed at the monthly meeting on 13 September 2011; my apologies for the delay, but I've been on the road for work:

• National:  Go to www.TeaPartyPatriots.org for great information on national activities.  This month is Constitution Week, 17-23 September, including "Adopt A School", an all year program.  
• State:  The caucuses for the 2012 National Conventions are scheduled for 3 March 2012 in every county across the state.  Our national delegates are selected primarily by popular vote at each session.  Only those present can vote.  If we want TEA Party delegates to go, we need to attend the meeting.  Set this date on your calendar, and stand by for updates.
• Local: Agenda 21 was discussed; that will be discussed in a separate post.  An effort to insure that the Constitution in the schools was reported, especially the favorable reception from the school administration.
• Speakers:  We had two: Chris Plucker, who is running for Position #6 on the Walla Walla City Council, and Sheriff John Turner.  Mr. Plucker presented his campaign platform to the group.  Sheriff Turner, who was not scheduled to speak, did attend, and was asked to discuss the recent articles concerning the budget for his department.

 The next meeting is 11 October 2011 (all meetings are now on the 2nd Tuesday of each month), starting with the business meeting at 6:30 PM, and the main event at 7:00 PM.  The Finance Manager for the City of Walla Walla will be discussing the budget with us.

Beginning in September, we will meet the second Tuesday of the month, 6:30 pm at the Walla Walla Regional Airport Conference Room.

This means our next meeting is Tuesday, September 13th. No topic has been announced as yet; keep an eye on "Events" for updates.

Facebook Apologizes

Facebook Apologizes for Deleting Arizona Governor's Post

Facebook issued an apology Saturday for deleting a post by Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer that criticized President Obama over his administration's new policy on prioritizing deportations of illegal immigrants.

Brewer's picture and a statement that accompanied it were removed Friday from Facebook, apparently because they "violated Facebook community standards."

"The post was removed in error," Andrew Noyes, Manager of Public Policy Communications at Facebook said in a statement. "We apologize for any inconvenience."

Summer is here and next Monday is the 4th of July in the Park celebration at Pioneer Park. Walla Walla Tea Party Patriots will have a booth so we need folks to volunteer for two hour blocks (or more) to cover the day.

National Day of Prayer

In 1952 a joint resolution by Congress was signed into law by President Truman, declaring a national day of prayer.  In 1988 the law was amended and signed by President Reagan, permanently designating the first Thursday of May as the national day of prayer.

"The National Day of Prayer has great significance for us as a nation. It enables us to recall and to teach the way in which our founding fathers sought the wisdom of God when faced with critical decisions. It stands as a call to us to humbly come before God, seeking His guidance for our leaders and His grace upon us as a people. The unanimous passage of the bill establishing the National Day of Prayer as an annual event, signifies that prayer is as important to our nation today as it was in the beginning." "One Nation, One Flag,"  the theme of our 2nd Annual Patriotic Rally!

Time: Friday, April 15, 2011 · 5:30pm - 6:30pm

Location:  Walla Walla County Courthouse, 315 West Main Street, Walla Walla, WA

The event will start with an invocation, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem. 

Reverend Wayne Perryman from Seattle will be our keynote speaker, with several local residents also making comments.  Music will be provided by the State Line Quartet.

Please wear your Walla Walla Tea Party Patriots t-shirt.  If you don't have one, they will be available for sale at the rally.

Note: Dixie needs volunteers to help with set up, tear down, and clean up.  If you can help with set up, please show up no later than 4:30 PM.  If you can help with tear down and clean up, please stick around afterwards.
